I’ve still not yet reached a conclusion over the Marathon, it was always a case of just getting around the course, but I was hoping to set a decent time, now with my continuing injury it certainly would be a case of “getting around”.
Still with no time yet recorded for the distance, any time I did would be a PB
If of course I do drop out I’m now in good company.
tricky decision, but given that it’s been an ambition for so long, would you not rather wait, so that you can run it and definitely get round … and get a time you can be proud of?
I concur. It would be a shame to do it, be disappointed at your time (albeit for good enough reason), and possibly risk a longer complete recovery. If you’re that keen on a 2009 marathon, there are plenty of lower-prestige (and cheaper!) events throughout the rest of the year which you could practice on, and then take the deferred place in London in 2010, knowing that you can get the time you deserve to get.
