February 2011
Compared with January 2011
So February, then. Two runs, 12.9 kilometres, and 86 minutes of actual movement across an entire month — which I think even by my fairly modest standards represents a new low. The one session worth a passing mention was a Morning Run, which I'll generously describe as a sign of intent, even if the rest of the month rather failed to build on it. At least I picked up three achievements, which Strava hands out with the kind of encouragement usually reserved for small children, so I'll take that.
Compared to January's four runs and 26 kilometres, February was essentially a written-off month — and honestly, if you've ever tried to motivate yourself out of a warm house into a dark, wet British February morning, you'll understand how this happens. The average pace actually nudged very slightly quicker at 6:41 per kilometre versus January's 6:46, which I'd love to claim as focused speed work, but is almost certainly just the result of running less and therefore being marginally less tired. So the direction of travel here isn't great, and if I'm going to do anything meaningful in the spring I'm going to need to find considerably more than 86 minutes a month to put into this. More to follow, hopefully.
