So March, then. Two activities totalling all of 41 minutes of actual movement, which I'll be honest isn't exactly going to trouble the record books. A short afternoon ride of just under 6km and a 28-minute morning run at a pace that can best be described as "taking in the scenery" — 6 minutes 39 per kilometre, since you're asking. Still, the legs were moving, the fresh air was there, and after the winter we've had, that counts for something.

The comparison with February is, admittedly, straightforward — I did precisely nothing in February, so March represents an improvement of 100% (mathematics fans will note this was not a high bar to clear). So whether it was the lighter mornings, a vague sense of guilt, or just the fact that spring was doing its best to make being outside feel less like a punishment, something shifted. 41 minutes isn't a training block, it's more of a polite acknowledgement that fitness exists and I probably ought to maintain some passing acquaintance with it. The honest goal for the coming months is to string a few more of these together before the gap between sessions becomes so long I have to introduce myself to my running shoes again.
