April, then. One run. Forty-four minutes, 5.2 kilometres at a pace that my watch was kind enough not to comment on further, though 8:25 per kilometre tells its own story. To be fair to myself, that's a modest improvement on last month's solitary Morning Run, which covered 4.2km in 28 minutes — though March did also feature an Afternoon Ride, so on balance March was arguably the more industrious month. So by the thrilling metric of "slightly further than last time," I suppose April can be filed under progress.

Compared to March's 41 minutes of activity across two sessions, April managed 44 minutes across one, which is either encouraging or deeply telling depending on how generous you're feeling. The warmer mornings of spring should in theory make it easier to drag yourself out of bed, and yet here we are with a grand total of a single outing to show for the entire month. Still, the elevation gain jumped from 9 metres to 40, which suggests I at least found a hill somewhere, even if I'd rather I hadn't. So the honest reflection going into May is that the base isn't exactly being built so much as occasionally visited, and at some point I'm going to need to actually turn up more than once a month if I want the numbers to look anything other than embarrassing.
