So May turned out to be a reasonably productive month, all things considered. Four runs, just over 25km and a touch under three hours of actual moving — which, given where I've been lately, I'll take without too much complaint. The highlight, if you can call it that, was getting out at lunch a couple of times, which is either a sign that the lighter evenings are finally doing something useful for my motivation, or that I'm avoiding my desk (probably both). A personal record snuck in there too, which I'm choosing not to examine too closely in case it turns out the bar was embarrassingly low.

April, by comparison, was fairly grim — one solitary morning run, 5km, averaging a pace that I'd rather not dwell on. So the step up to four runs and 25km in May is at least movement in the right direction, even if "direction" is doing some heavy lifting in that sentence. The warmer mornings and the clocks having gone forward clearly helped drag me outside more than once, which teaches me something I already knew and will probably forget again by October. The aim for June is simple enough — keep the consistency going and nudge the weekly distance up a bit, before I find some new reason to let it slide.
