So December, then. Two runs, nine kilometres, and just over an hour of movement in the entire month — which, if I'm being honest with myself, is less a training block and more a gentle reminder that my trainers exist. The sole notable entry in the log is a Morning Run, which I can only assume required a level of willpower I haven't since been able to locate. At least I picked up a PR somewhere in those 9.1 kilometres, which feels like the universe throwing me a bone given the overall effort involved.

Compare that to November, which by my standards was practically elite — nineteen activities, nearly seven hours of moving around, sixteen Boris Bike commutes, and an actual race in the form of the Men's Health event. So somewhere between November and December, winter arrived and apparently took my motivation with it. Dark mornings, cold air, and the general gravitational pull of the sofa have a lot to answer for. Going into the new year I'm essentially starting from scratch, which is a familiar enough position that I should probably stop being surprised by it.
