So February, then. In what can only be described as a heroic effort, I managed to drag myself onto the turbo trainer for exactly one ride — 23 minutes on Zwift, covering 10.1 kilometres without actually going anywhere. Which, when you think about it, is a fairly accurate metaphor for the month as a whole. Still, at least being indoors meant I had no excuse involving the weather, which is either encouraging or mildly damning depending on how you look at it.

Compared to January, where I'd actually managed three runs totalling just over 16 kilometres and racked up a frankly suspiciously large number of PRs (eight, since you ask — I suspect the bar was set quite low), February represents something of a step backwards. To be fair to myself, it is February in England, which has never in recorded history inspired anyone to do anything particularly energetic. So the plan going forward is straightforward enough: do more than 23 minutes. That's it. That's the bar. I feel reasonably confident I can clear it.
