So May was, if I'm being generous with myself, a step in the right direction. Five activities across the month, totalling just over two hours of actual moving — 74 minutes on the bike spread across three Zwift rides covering 26 kilometres, and a couple of morning runs adding up to 8.1km at a pace that suggests I was either taking in the scenery or my legs had simply decided 6:17 per kilometre was quite enough, thank you. I did manage a personal record somewhere in there, which sounds impressive until you remember the bar wasn't exactly set at Olympic height.

Compared to April — one solitary Zwift ride, 36 minutes, done — May does at least suggest some kind of upward trajectory, even if "upward" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. Spring arriving probably helped; there's only so long you can blame the weather before you have to admit it's just you. The split between riding and running is interesting, in that the bike is clearly doing the bulk of the work while the running quietly tries to keep up. Whether that balance shifts through the summer remains to be seen, though knowing me there'll be some poorly-timed race entry that forces the issue before I'm quite ready for it.
