So November, then. Twenty-one activities logged across the month, which sounds reasonably industrious until you realise that 19 of them were Boris Bike commutes — a grand total of 18.7km and 61 metres of elevation, which is not exactly putting the Alps to shame. The two runs I did manage came in at just under 10km combined, with a lunchtime outing and one morning effort that I'm choosing to remember more fondly than the data probably warrants. On the plus side, my average pace crept down to 6:42 per kilometre, which at least suggests the legs still remember what they're supposed to do, even if I'm not asking them to do it very often.

Compared to October it's a fairly stark picture, and not one I can dress up too convincingly. Last month I covered 33.9km running across three outings — including some genuinely hilly efforts judging by the 244 metres of elevation — whereas November managed 9.7km and roughly the topography of a car park. The dark mornings and that particular October-to-November drop in temperature have a lot to answer for, as does the Boris Bike, which is a genuinely enjoyable commute but is not, if I'm honest, training. So the pattern is becoming familiar: autumn arrives, the running quietly retreats, and the cycling stats do their best to make the month look busier than it was. Something to address in December, presumably, though I'm aware I say that every year.
