So April was, by my own admission, a bit of a quiet one. Twenty activities across the month sounds respectable enough on paper, but with only 172 minutes of actual moving, I'm not exactly troubling the record books. The split was an even ten rides and ten runs, which at least suggests some variety, even if the Lunch Rides and Morning Rides were probably more about fresh air than any serious training stimulus. The running is where it gets interesting — or rather, where it gets humbling — 9.9km across ten outings at an average pace of 14:30 per kilometre suggests I was either walking a significant portion of it, or the two indoor sessions were doing some heavy lifting to drag that number somewhere near respectable.

So compared to March, this is quite the step back. Last month I managed 29 activities, 346 minutes, and 114.7km on the bike alone, with 5 personal records to show for it — April's 8km of riding feels rather like I've accidentally submitted someone else's data. The running, at least, has improved marginally; March produced a single 1.5km lunch run, which I can only assume was to the end of the road and back. The honest explanation is probably the usual one — the clocks go forward, life fills in the gaps, and the motivation that felt so solid in March gets quietly renegotiated. The goal going into May, then, is straightforward enough: do more.
