December 2016
Compared with November 2016
So December, then. Four runs, 121 minutes of actual moving, and 16.5 kilometres covered at a pace that could generously be described as "purposeful jogging" — 7 minutes 19 per kilometre if you're being precise about it, which I apparently am. The highlight, such as it is, was getting out for Parkrun, which at least forces you out of bed on a Saturday morning when every other instinct is telling you to stay horizontal. Two Strava achievements earned across the month, one of which was indoors (on a treadmill, so it barely counts, though I'll take what I can get in December).
Comparing that to November, I actually managed five activities and 18.3 kilometres, which means I somehow did *less* in December despite having more time off work — go figure. The honest answer is that dark mornings, cold air, and the general gravitational pull of Christmas made the gap between intending to run and actually running rather wide. The pace slipped too, from 6:56 down to 7:19 per kilometre, which is what happens when you swap consistent training for mince pies and good intentions. So, heading into January, the base is thin and the excuses are running out — which means it's probably time to start actually running again.
