So March, then. Seventeen activities across the month — a mix of ten rides and seven runs — which on paper sounds reasonably industrious, though 432 minutes of actual moving about tells its own story. The cycling was a welcome addition, 47 kilometres spread across a handful of evening and afternoon rides that were probably as much about the improving daylight as any great training conviction. The running held up too, 41 kilometres at an average of 6:39 per kilometre, and I'll quietly take the six personal records, including a Parkrun effort that clearly caught me in a rare moment of form.

The contrast with February is, shall we say, stark. Fourteen runs, 131 kilometres, 907 minutes — February was a proper month by any measure, the kind of block that makes March look like I'd taken up light gardening instead. Some of that drop is almost certainly the calendar doing its thing: shorter blocks, the bike coming back out as the evenings stretched, life getting in the way in the way it tends to. So what does it mean going forward? Probably that I need to resist the temptation to let a bit of sunshine and a working rear derailleur become an excuse to run less. The legs are there. The motivation just needs a quiet word with itself.
