Moving time

So June, then. Fourteen activities, 278 minutes of actual movement, which sounds reasonable until you remember that May managed 17 activities and 355 minutes and included a swim (one whole swim, admittedly, but still). The month split fairly neatly between ten rides — most of them around Horsham, because apparently I've found a loop I like and I'm sticking to it — and four runs totalling just over 20km, which at my average pace of 6:11 per kilometre means I was out there for a while without actually covering a great deal of ground. The one highlight worth mentioning was Parkrun, where I somehow picked up an achievement, which I'm choosing to interpret as progress rather than evidence that my previous efforts were particularly poor.

So compared to May, the volume dropped and the running dropped quite a bit — seven runs down to four, 34km down to 20km, and those two PRs from May feel like a distant memory already. In fairness to myself (and I don't do that often), the cycling ticked up slightly, both in distance and in sessions, so it's not as though I spent June entirely horizontal. The slightly lower heart rate on the bike — 140 versus May's 147 — probably just means I was going a bit easier, which is either sensible summer base building or, more likely, enjoying the fact that it was warm enough to be outside without it being a total ordeal. Going forward, I really should get the running mileage back up before I lose whatever modest fitness I'd built in May.
