October was, to put it charitably, a quieter month. Fourteen activities sounds respectable until you realise that eleven of them were walks — some optimistically labelled "Lunch Walk" and "Afternoon Walk," as if I'd planned them all along rather than just gone outside for some air. The three runs covered 27.3 km at an average pace of 5:21 per kilometre, which is perfectly fine, and I'll take the two PRs without asking too many questions about how I managed them on so little effort. The highlight was probably "Back in the game....," a title that carries both promise and a certain amount of unearned optimism, though 831 minutes of total activity across the month suggests I was at least leaving the house regularly.

So, compare that to September — 39 activities, over 1,800 minutes, 102 kilometres of running, 19 PRs, and eleven FiiT workouts — and October looks like a man who found a comfortable sofa and made some decisions. The running volume dropped by roughly three quarters, the workouts vanished entirely, and the bike didn't come out once. It's October in England, so dark mornings and the general sense that autumn is personally against you account for some of it, but probably not all of it. The honest read is that September was a purple patch and October was the predictable correction. The walks are keeping something ticking over, at least, and I'd like to think November has more running in it — though I'm aware I've thought that before.
