March 2021
Compared with February 2021
March was a quieter month than I'd like to admit — 40 activities and just under 1,966 minutes of moving, which sounds respectable until you put it next to February. The cycling took a bit of a back seat, with only 5 rides covering 133 km, though I did keep grinding through the Build Me Up plan (Orange Unicorn, Mishmash, Halvfems, and What Goes Up Must Come Down, which does exactly what it says on the tin). The running was probably the highlight, 7 runs, 58.6 km, and 4 PRs — including a pace average of 5:13 per km which, for me, is genuinely encouraging. I rounded things out with a handful of FiiT and Fitness+ HIIT sessions and one solitary weight training outing, which I'm choosing to count as a win rather than evidence of neglect.
So compared to February, the drop-off is fairly obvious — 58 activities and over 2,500 minutes down to 40 and 1,966. The cycling in particular fell off a cliff, going from 15 rides and 306 km to 5 rides and 133 km, which I can partially blame on life getting in the way and partially on the fact that motivation is a fragile thing. The walking held steady at 24 activities and 115 km, which at least shows I haven't completely lost the plot. The runs are improving though — faster pace, more PRs than February — so there are green shoots if I'm looking for them, and as spring actually starts to feel like spring, I'm hoping that drags me back outside more consistently.
