November 2021
Compared with October 2021
So November clocked up 19 activities and just over 11 hours of moving around, which sounds more impressive than it probably was. The bulk of that was walking — 12 of them, including a rather optimistic "London bound" entry that I'm choosing to count as training — with 5 runs covering 42.5 kilometres at an average pace of 5:25 per kilometre. I also managed to dust off the bike for a ride out to Richmond (31 minutes, 14 kilometres, and an average heart rate of 45 bpm which suggests either the monitor was lying or I was barely trying), and squeezed in one indoor Apple Fitness+ session, because apparently that's the kind of person I am now.
Comparing back to October, the total active time actually dropped — 670 minutes versus 784 — which is probably the most honest thing the numbers could say about November and dark mornings in England. Running mileage was up though, from 28.5 to 42.5 kilometres across five runs rather than three, so there's something in there to feel quietly good about, even if the pace was essentially identical and I'm not sure I'm actually getting any faster. The FiiT workouts disappeared entirely, replaced by one solitary Fitness+ session, which tells its own story about motivation when it's cold and grey outside. So, modest progress on the running front, less so everywhere else — which is probably about par for a British November.
