2023 turned out to be a pretty big year for me. Across 424 activities and just over 17,000 minutes of moving, I managed to keep a solid mix of running, walking, HIIT, rowing, and the occasional workout session — even squeezing in one lone swim that I'm choosing to count as a triumph rather than an embarrassment. Running was the real centrepiece, with 103 runs covering 535 km at an average pace of 5:35 per kilometre, picking up 8 PRs and 13 achievements along the way. Walking quietly did a lot of heavy lifting too — 230 walks, 1,217 km, and nearly 14,000 metres of elevation, which is honestly staggering when I add it all up.

Looking back at 2022, the progress is genuinely encouraging. I logged 323 activities that year covering around 15,800 minutes, so jumping to 424 activities and over 17,000 minutes shows real consistency building in the right direction. My running volume grew from 410 km to 535 km, and while I racked up fewer PRs in 2023 — 8 versus 12 — that's partly just the reality of getting further into training where gains become harder to come by. What I want to carry into 2024 is that same steady accumulation of effort, maybe being a little braver about swimming more than once, and trusting that showing up regularly — whether it's a morning HIIT session or a lunchtime walk — is where the real fitness gets built.
