So May was, if I'm honest, a bit of a quieter month than I'd have liked. Twenty-one activities across 832 minutes of moving, which sounds reasonable until you realise that the lion's share of that — fifteen walks totalling just under 66 kilometres — was largely me and the dog doing what we'd have done anyway. The running was there, four sessions and 23.9 kilometres covered at an average of 5:51 per kilometre, which is at least moving in the right direction pace-wise compared to where I've been. A Night Run snuck in there too, which either suggests admirable dedication or the fact that it was the only window I could find (almost certainly the latter).

So compared to April, the drop-off is fairly stark — thirty activities down to twenty-one, 1,131 minutes of effort down to 832, and the running in particular took a hit, shedding three sessions and about 7.5 kilometres. April had me doing seven runs and four HIIT sessions, which by my standards was actually a decent block of work; May managed four runs and only two HIIT efforts, the HIIT almost halving in both sessions and time. You'd think with the weather improving into proper spring I'd have more excuse to get outside, not less. Still, the pace is slightly better and the legs seem to be functioning, so the honest takeaway is probably that June needs a bit more structure before I find myself standing on a start line somewhere, underprepared again, wondering how this keeps happening.
