May was, by any reasonable measure, a significant improvement on what came before — though I'll come to that. Forty activities across the month, with just over 26 hours of actual movement, which felt like a lot until I remembered that the vast majority of that was walking. And I mean a *lot* of walking — 28 outings, 127 kilometres, and over 1,100 metres of elevation, which sounds almost heroic until you accept that most of it was probably just me refusing to sit still on a lunch break. The running was modest but consistent: six Morning Runs covering just under 30km at a shade under 5:45 per kilometre, which is comfortable rather than fast, but at least the legs were turning over. Six HIIT sessions rounded things out, all indoors, all with that slightly grim quality that Morning HIIT sessions tend to have when you're doing them largely on willpower.

So, April. Well. Zero activities. Not a single one recorded, which is either a catastrophic month or a catastrophic relationship with my watch — I'll let you decide which is more plausible. Either way, coming into May from a standing start is never ideal, and I suspect the longer days and the faint possibility of British spring actually behaving itself had something to do with finally getting back outside. The honest truth is that consistency has always been the thing I struggle with most, and one decent month doesn't change that — but it's better to be moving than not moving, and May at least proves I still remember how.
