August turned out to be a reasonably productive month, all things considered. 52 activities and just over 42 hours of moving around felt like a solid effort, even if a fair chunk of that was walking (28 of those activities, covering nearly 179km — my legs apparently don't know when to stop). The running built up nicely to 63km across 11 sessions, all indoor which says something about either my dedication to the treadmill or my complicated relationship with British summers, and I kept the HIIT ticking over with 11 Morning HIIT sessions to keep things honest. There was even a brief appearance from the bike and the pool, though at 2.7km and 200 metres respectively, I'm not sure either counts as a serious statement of intent.

So compared to July, the numbers are genuinely encouraging — up from 39 activities to 52, and active minutes jumping from around 1,600 to over 2,500, which is a meaningful step in the right direction. The walking in particular nearly doubled in both distance and time, which I'd like to attribute to sunny August evenings rather than an inability to sit still. Running volume was up too, from 42km to 63km, and the average pace of 5:40 per km held steady, which at least suggests the extra mileage wasn't just slow shuffling. Going forward the question is whether I can carry this momentum into September, or whether the usual creeping excuses — darker mornings, work, the general pull of the sofa — start to nibble away at it.
