November 2024
Compared with October 2024
November was, all things considered, a reasonably solid month — 56 activities and just over 1,800 minutes of moving about, which sounds impressive until you realise a significant chunk of that was walking. Still, 23 walks covering 119 kilometres isn't nothing, and the Afternoon Walk and Lunch Walk slots have become something of a non-negotiable part of the day, which is either discipline or a sign I need to get out of the office more (probably both). The running ticked along nicely with 12 Morning Runs totalling just under 40 kilometres at a 5:24 pace, which is at least heading in the right direction compared to recent months. The HIIT and rowing sessions kept ticking over too — 12 and 9 sessions respectively — all resolutely indoors, which at this point in the year feels less like a choice and more like a survival instinct.
So compared to October the activity count nudged up from 52 to 56, though total minutes actually dropped slightly — from 1,917 to 1,858 — which I'll put down to November being November rather than any great strategic tapering. The running was the clearest improvement: more sessions, more kilometres, and a pace that came down from 5:34 to 5:24 per kilometre, which suggests the consistency is slowly doing what consistency is supposed to do. The walking distance dipped a little, almost certainly because the days are shorter and the weather has that particular grey drizzle that makes a lunchtime stroll feel faintly heroic. Going into December the challenge will be keeping the momentum going rather than letting mince pies and a full social calendar quietly dismantle everything November built.
