So May was a reasonably solid month, all things considered — 61 activities and just under 48 hours of moving about the place, which I'll take. The bulk of that came from walking, which racked up an almost absurd 161 kilometres across 31 outings (the fact that I need 31 walks to cover that distance tells you something about the pace). Running was the real focus though, with 20 runs covering 137.5 kilometres at an average of 5:40 per kilometre, and I managed to sneak out two PRs along the way, which was a pleasant surprise given how some of those sessions felt at the time. I squeezed in nine HIIT sessions and even made it to the pool once, which is the kind of token swim that probably doesn't count as a swimming habit but does at least count as not having forgotten where the pool is.

Compared to April, the numbers are down across almost every category — fewer activities, fewer kilometres, fewer minutes — which is either a sign of sensible recovery or, more likely, the fact that April set a high bar I wasn't quite able to match. April was 71 activities and over 55 hours, with stronger swim and HIIT numbers in particular; the swimming dropped from three sessions to one, which I'm blaming partly on the longer evenings making running feel like the more appealing option, and partly on laziness (mostly the latter). So the running pace did slip slightly from 5:37 to 5:40, which is the kind of marginal difference that probably means nothing but that I'll quietly ruminate on anyway. Going into June, the goal is to keep the running consistent and perhaps rediscover the pool before my technique deteriorates from merely poor to genuinely alarming.
