August, then. Forty-nine activities and just over forty hours of moving about the place, which sounds impressively dedicated until you realise that twenty-five of those activities were walks — including what I've apparently been logging as the Lunch Walk, which is exactly what it sounds like. Still, 154 kilometres on foot and nearly 1,400 metres of elevation isn't nothing, and I'll take it. The running held up reasonably well: thirteen Morning Runs, 68.9 kilometres in total, averaging about six minutes per kilometre, which is the kind of pace that suggests I'm working hard enough to feel it but not hard enough to actually get faster. Eleven HIIT sessions rounded things out, which is the sort of number that looks virtuous on a dashboard and felt considerably less virtuous at the time.

So compared to July, the numbers are quietly down across the board — four fewer activities overall, about 250 fewer minutes, and I managed to drop the one swim I'd apparently attempted last month without replacing it with anything. My pace slipped from 5:53 to 6:06 per kilometre, which I'd like to blame on the summer heat rather than a gradual slide into comfortable mediocrity, though honestly it's probably both. July also had me covering nearly 170 kilometres walking versus 154 in August, so even the low-intensity stuff tailed off a bit. The encouraging part — if I'm being generous with myself — is that the consistency is still there; I just need to do something useful with it before the autumn gives me a genuinely good excuse to stay indoors.
